Tram Interpreter Training for Youth Tours

Similar to Tram Interpreter Training for General Tours, but specifically relates interpretive information for young people. Issues discussed will include how to engage youth and heighten their interest in the natural world.

Interpretive Techniques Training

Learn the methods of thematic interpretation and enhance your presentations with techniques that engage the participants dud assist them in better understanding your material.

Ecological Concepts Training

Explore ecological concepts such as classification systems, plant and animal interactions, population dynamics, adaptations, natural selection, and ecosystem succession through presentation and hands-on activities to help you better under-stand and interpret ecological processes and environmental issues.

Project WILD

Learn exciting teaching ideas about the natural world for use in science, math, social studies, physical education, music and art.

Hands-on Habitats

Teacher Workshop (volunteers welcome). Discover the in-depth conservation education field studies that await you in the Visitor Center. Learn how to teach others to conduct and analyze water samples, examine soils and investigate wildlife habitats.

WOW!: The Wonders of Wetlands

Teacher Workshop (volunteers welcome). Hands-on classroom and outdoor activities that can be used to integrate wetlands into school curricula. Receive a workbook of over 50 hands-on activities for grades K- 12 plus valuable reference information and teaching strategies.

Project WET

Teac her Workshop (volunteers welcome). Project WET facilitates and promotes awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources through the use of classroom teaching aids and curricula.

Project Learning Tree

Teacher Workshop (volunteers welcome). Au interdisciplinary curriculum for grades K-8 that uses forests as a window on the world to better understand natural and built environments.

Conservation on Canvas

Teacher Workshop (volunteers welcome). Provides interdisciplinary educational materials about waterfowl for grades K-12, and helps teachers prepare their students to participate in the Maryland Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest.

Community Outreach Training

Often members of the community would like us to present a display at their festivals, fairs, and special events. Training covers topics such as use and set up of displays, care and use of animal mounts and pelts, and outreach tools.
